To enroll, your company must be a member or an associate member, in good standing, of the Canadian Propane Association (CPA), plus:

  • Sign our Plan Participation Agreement.
  • Provide evidence that you have at least $5 million of comprehensive general liability insurance covering your Liquefied Petroleum Gas or Flammable Liquids operations.
  • Supply the names and 24-hour telephone numbers of at least two employees who are knowledgeable about your company's operations. These people will be our prime contacts for all Emergency Response Assistance Plan (ERAP) communications.

Once the required documents are received by ERAC, we will:

  • Provide you with the ERAC Transport Canada ERAP Application Form template and supporting documents (the Plan, and Appendices).
  • You will review, sign and send the Transport Canada Application Form back to ERAC. We will then submit these documents to Transport Canada for approval.
  • Once approved, Transport Canada issues you, the Plan Participant, an Emergency Response Plan (ERP) number.

Fees and Costs

Your ERAP participation fees are based on your company's volume of LPG sales and volume of Flammable Liquids transported by rail and geographic area of business. These fees are prorated to the overall costs of our annual operations.

If the plan is activated, and your company is involved in the incident, you must also pay your share of all ERAC costs upon being invoiced. Typically, these costs include our fees for personnel and equipment as well as their personal expenses.
