2020 Q2 Newsletter - ERAC's Continued Response to COVID-19

We want to update our stakeholders regarding the situation with COVID-19. We assure you we are monitoring the situation and adhering to recommendations from public health authorities. ERAC’s number one priority is the safety of our staff, Plan Participant members and responder network.

Early on, we identified our essential services and put a plan in place for continued operations. We remain prepared to respond to any dangerous goods incident across the country on behalf of our Plan Participants.

We’ve also asked our response network to notify ERAC if their availability changes due to COVID-19 so that we can plan accordingly, including dispatching the next closest team or RMA/TA in case of an incident.

Due to the situation, all travel by ERAC staff is still restricted to dangerous goods emergency response incidents only, and all meetings at ERAC, internal and external, are virtual. All our staff has been teleworking since mid-March and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future to do our part in physical distancing.

During this time, to support our stakeholders, we developed

  • a safety bulletin with recommended infection control measures for responders in the field during the COVID-19 pandemic, and
  • an ArcGIS application that allows users to locate the nearest disinfection response team across Canada.

Don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or concerns.
