Dangerous Goods Emergency Management Conference

The Dangerous Goods Emergency Management Conference is Canada's only national event dedicated to advancing safety, preparedness, and collaboration across the dangerous goods sector.

Emergency Response Assistance Canada (ERAC) is pleased to host the 2026 Dangerous Goods Emergency Management (DGEM) Conference, June 2-4, 2026, at Hotel Arts in Calgary, Alberta.

Our 2026 conference, which coincides with our 40-year anniversary, will feature two prominent keynote speakers, with retired Canadian Forces General Rick Hillier sharing his thoughts on Leadership in Tough Times on day one, and former CFL two-time Grey Cup Champion and Safety Expert Dan Comiskey discussing You Can Count on Me on day two. The conference begins with a joint welcome reception on the evening of June 2 with the Canadian Propane Association (CPA).

This year's conference marks the first time our biennial event will be held in conjunction with the CPA's Leadership Summit, offering CPA members the opportunity to attend and learn more about the ERAC emergency preparedness and response activities and initiatives that maintain their regulatory compliance. The two-day conference will offer dynamic industry-related guest speakers and panel discussions on a variety of dangerous goods emergency management topics that include Managing Stress During and After a Serious Incident Response, Tailoring Safety & Response to the Hazardous Fluid, Employing New Technologies in Emergency Response, and more!  

The DGEM Conference is a great opportunity for our Plan members, industry stakeholders and the ERAC responder community, to connect, strengthen relationships, and gain practical insights that support their day-to-day work.

ERAC will also be recognizing the efforts of our outstanding responders in the areas of leadership, safety, training and learning, and long-term service at our National Responder Awards reception and dinner on the first night of the DGEM conference (June 3).
